Within project “Partnership for Community Action on Climate Change” funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) with technical support from Global Action Plan (GAP), Centre for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) organised the workshop “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Behavior Change- Field Test Phase: Aug 2012 – May 2013” at Festival Hotel, Hue City on 14 and 15 June 2012.

In Vietnam, Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C & E) in cooperation with the Faculty of Urban and Environmental Economics & Management – National Economics University in Hanoi, with the support of The project “Strengthening the capacity to mainstreaming sustainable development and climate change into the planning system Vietnam”, a roundtable discussion on “ The Future We Want” started with a contest on the best message to be sent to Rio+20.

Rio+20- the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development- is taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this June 2012. It is a historic opportunity to define a path for a world which is safer, more just, cleaner, greener and more prosperous. Rio+20 is an opportunity to change common tasks, take actions to eliminate poverty, deal with issues of climate change and environmental destruction and build a bridge towards the future.

As part of activities towards Rio+20 in Vietnam and with support from project “Strengthening capacities to integrate sustainable development and climate change in planning in Vietnam”, a cooperation endeavour between Department of Science, Education and Natural Resources under Ministry of Planning and Investment (DSENRE- MPI) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) and Urban Environment Department, National Economics University (NEU) jointly organised an event “The Future We Want- Messages of Vietnamese Youth to Rio+20” from 25 April 2012 to 4 June 2012.This was followed by a month of contest during which the organisers received 20 entries in all categories by young people from many localities throughout the country, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hoi An, Quang Tri, Bac Giang and others.

On 26 May 2012, C&E in collaboration with Tam Quan Commune Women’s Union and Dong Bua Village Women and Environmental Club held a workshop to “Summarise and share project experience” at the Hall of Tam Quan Commune People’s Committee, Tam Dao District, Vinh Phuc Province.
