Community-based forest management: The rights-based approach

Within the project “Capacity building for community-based forest management in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam: A people rights-based approach” funded by Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Institute in Vietnam, the Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) in cooperation with Thua Thien-Hue Nature Care and Quang Nam Forest Protection Department assembled a team of experts with expertise and practical experience in community-based natural resource management to compile a set of training materials “Capacity building for community-based forest management for communities in two provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam: the rights-based approach”.

San Diu Women improving their quality of life via sustainable production

With the aim to improve and enhance the quality of life of San Diu people in the buffer zone of Tam Dao National Park through improvement of their knowledge in daily life and sustainable production, under the sponsorship of the Embassy of New Zealand in Hanoi, Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) has been conducting activities of the project “Empowering San Diu ethic women to improve their living conditions and reduce poverty in Dong Bua village in the buffer zone of Tam Dao National Park.”

Assessment of training needs for community-based forest management in Thua Thien Hue & Quang Nam: the right-based approach

Workshop Announcement: People right-based natural forest management

For recent decades, along with the rapid growth of economy, Vietnam and other countries in the world have suffered from environment degradation and losses of natural resources, especial forestry resources. Protecting existing natural forest areas in Vietnam is a big task that requires much effort from forestry and other relevant organizations. Although there are many policies and institutions for this purpose, natural forests have been destroyed rapidly. It is clear that the efforts of the state management bodies are not enough. It is important that local people should participate in and contribute to natural forest protection.
