Research report Socio-ecological Transformation (SET) as Perceived by Vietnamese Youth and Ecological Movement in Vietnam

We are pleased to deliver the report Socio-ecological Transformation (SET) as Perceived by Vietnamese Youth and Ecological Movement in Vietnam. The report presents findings of a study by the Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) into youth SET-related perceptions and actions and ecological practice in Vietnam. These important contents have received inadequate attention in the currently limited literature on
the Vietnamese youth’s eco-initiative.
Having worked with the youth on ecological projects for years, C&E is in the right position to address this gap. Since 2010, C&E has carried out a series of educational programs such as Developing Sustainable Consumption and Lifestyle, Lifestyle and Climate Change 2010- 2015, Training of Trainers (TOT) 2015- 2020 and Ecoweek 2018-2020. C&E has developed a network of 45 universities and colleges in 20 provinces and cities across the nation to promote ecological lifestyle and engaged the youth in innovative initiatives to address environmental
consequences. During our project operations, C&E has interacted with thousands of Vietnamese young people across the country, including students, educators, practitioners, scientists, scholars and government servants. Our idea exchanges on socio-ecological issues and their relevant experience have piqued our interest in gaining insights into their perspectives on contemporary issues and their first-hand practice in response to the existing challenges and contributing to SET. They formed the foundation for this study.
We believe that research findings help to portray an informative picture of Vietnam youth movement. They are important referencing materials for concerned individuals, communities, organisations and the authorities in planning, implementing and evaluating ecoactivities and agendas. They also form the basis of C&E next three-year plan (2021-2023) for the new project cycle by the end of 2020.
It has been an honour and privilege to undertake this study and C&E plans to further our research and actions in our future efforts to promote and support ecological initiatives and programmes and to contribute to SET in Vietnam.
