Summarise and share experience of the project to empower San Diu Ethnic women to improve their living conditions and reduce poverty

Thanks to the support of New Zealand Embassy and efforts of members of Dong Bua Village Women and Environmental Club and C&E staff, the project "Empowering San Diu Ethnic women to improve their living conditions and reduce poverty in Dong Bua Village in the buffer zone of Tam Dao National Park" has achieved good results. Material and spiritual life of women has improved significantly. To evaluate the project results and share experience in the implementation process to communities in ​​Tam Quan Commune, Tam Dao District, C&E in collaboration with the Executive Committee of Tam Quan Commune Women’s Union and the Club successfully held a workshop to "Summarise and share project experience" at the Hall of Tam Quan Commune People’s Committee.

There were 115 participants, including club members, Dong Bua villagers, C&E staff and representatives of the Communist Party, local authorities and social and mass organisations including the Communist Party Committee, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front and Executive Committee of Women’s Union in Tam Quan Commune, the Communist Party Cell and Youth Union in Dong Bua Village, leaders of 13 villages in Tam Quan Commune and representatives of Minh Quang Commune and Ho Son Commune.

At the workshop, Ms. Truong Thi Bay, Club Chairperson and Mr. Vu Quoc Phuong, C&E officer summarised activities of the Club and the project. Next, Ms. Chu Thi Thanh and Ms. Diep Thi Lap, two Club members, reported their experience in implementing the models of safe Chou chou vegetable farming and chicken-for-meat farming. Followed these reports were an evaluation of the project activities by Mr. Hoang Van Sau, Communist Party Secretary of Dong Bua Village and opinions of Mr. Lai Huu Phuc, Vice President of Tam Quan Commune and leaders of other villages. In general, commune leaders and other participants highly appreciated the results achieved by the project and especially the environment-friendly economic models which have helped San Diu ethnics reduce poverty in Dong Bua Village.

Through the workshop, commune and village leaders and Dong Bua villagers expressed their sincere thanks to New Zealand Embassy and C&E and hopes for greater attention and support from the Embassy and the Center to facilitate commune residents in improving their living conditions and reducing poverty in the future.
