FROM SCHOOL GARDEN TO GREEN AWARENESS – THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION JOURNEY OF STUDENTS AT NAM TRUNG YEN SECONDARY SCHOOL
Over the past week, students from classes 7A5, 9A2, and 6A1 of Nam Trung Yen Secondary School had the opportunity to participate in two exciting learning activities in the refreshing green space of the school garden. From on-site sketching in the Art lesson to exploring environmental knowledge in the Geography class, the students were able to observe the beauty of nature up close and nurture a deeper love for their environment.
Art Activity – Real-life Drawing in the Green Space of the School Garden
Under the cool shade of the trees, the young “artists” observed every bush, leaf, and flower, then recreated them on paper with creativity and expression. This activity not only developed their observation and artistic skills but also fostered a love of nature through art.
Geography Experiential Activity – Exploring the Mini Ecosystem of the School Garden
With the theme “From School Garden to Green Awareness: A Journey Toward Environmental Protection”, students explored:
• The role of plants in regulating air and improving the environment
• Biodiversity seen through various plant species and small insects
• The relationship between sunlight – soil – water in the growth of living organisms
• The importance of protecting the environment through small everyday actions
This interdisciplinary activity between Art and Geography offered students a gentle yet meaningful learning experience, helping them understand that every green corner of the school carries an important life value.
The practical lessons in the school garden not only enriched students’ knowledge but also sparked a spirit of “live green – think green – act green.” Through each drawing and each observation, they are gradually becoming “green ambassadors,” spreading the message of environmental protection right from their own school.
