Launched the two environmentally friendly forest use clubs in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue

Since May 2013, the C&E center has coordinated with the Forest Protection Department of Quang Nam and the Science of Forestry Hue support the establishment and strengthening institutions 2 clubs using forest-friendly environment at 2 villages in the project area. This is the model-building activities in the form of clubs’ within the framework of the project "Sustainable management of natural forest through raising awareness and building capacity to improve the rights and legal status of ethnic minorities to natural forest in central Vietnam 2012-2014" sponsored by Rosa .

In Quang Nam, the environmentally friendly forest use club of village Xa Nghin I, Za Hung commune, Dong Giang district was formed with 30 members. Also in Thua Thien Hue, the club was formed on the basis of consolidating the organization of community-based forest management unit Khe Tran with 16 members. Two clubs/CFM Board was formed to organize consolidated democratically. The members are the villagers, who voluntarily participate and have common concern toward the management and utilization of community forest. Board of head of the club / CFM Board were elected by their members. After being formed, these club / board CFM have been supported with materials by the C&E Center such as clothing, furniture, bookcases, speakers … To help the club / CFM Board act effectively, C&E also collaborates with relevant local partners and agencies in organizing a fieldtrip to a model, skills training activities, and seminars and policy dialogues and coordination with stakeholders in the management of villages’ community forest.

C&E do hope that the establishment and the implementation of two environmentally friendly forest use clubs into sustainable activities will help local communities and bring opportunity for them to share, exchange experience and find solutions and actions in order to manage and use allocated forests efficiently.
