C&E Center is looking for professionals to work in the project activities

TERM OF REFERENCE

Background

In terms of environmental threats and climate change, Vietnam has encountered a number of problems related to their rapid over-development and growth.

It is important that efforts to control unsustainable growth include actions from the state, the private business sector, education sector and the civil society. The youth represent the best actor and voice to spread this message in country planning and development. By raising the environmental awareness, knowledge and skills of young and future professionals, they will contribute and integrate their concerns, Eco-lifestyle and sustainability principles in their professional practices. Universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are well positioned to support this empowerment endeavour. They can mobilize resources, provide services and advocate for and deliver new sustainable planning programs.

The idea behind the Project “Partnership to support and promote informal and non-formal education for advocating ecological lifestyle and climate change adaptation and mitigation in Vietnam Universities” is to raise awareness and strengthen the capacity of a more ecological and participatory lifestyle among young people. It is essential we provide information about ecological lifestyles and climate change adaptation in both of these growing economies.

Upon completion of the project, this partnership will establish the Vietnam universities as the core centres of tertiary education, with the capacity to deliver quality and effective training programs intergrating Eco-lifestyle and sustainability. The Partnership will also enhance C&E as a leader in Vietnamese environmental youth movement and as an active contributor to Eco-lifestyle and sustainability training in higher education. The project results will enrich the approach, methodology and materials for Eco-lifestyle.

In 2017 will focus on building a strong foundation and wide dissemination of ecological lifestyle education among university and youth networks in Vietnam.  In the past 2 years, the project has completed a research on ecological lifestyle of Vietnamese youth to be used as input and foundation to other activity, it also completed 2 important guidebooks on ecological lifestyle for both trainers and public audience. The project successfully organized pilot trainings and advocacy events with the participation of universities and youth organizations in different parts of Vietnam. To accelerate the integration of ecological lifestyle education, it is important to create more tools and guidelines for this integration process to easily be adapted and put into practice at different levels and organizations.

Hence, in 2017, this project will create 3 toolkits on different topics related to ecological lifestyle. This  toolkit together with the guidebook on ecological lifestyle and teacher guide will serve as a wholesome tool for educators, trainers from universities and organizations to build courses and activities that are suitable for their own conditions and needs. As ecological lifestyle education is still very new and needs different approach and methodologies, a training of trainers on ecological lifestyle education will serve as a platform for educators and trainers to get together, gain knowledge and exchange skills and experience on the subject.

Furthermore, the project will conduct a training of trainers on ecological lifestyle education with participants who are trainers, teachers and youth leaders from universities and youth organizations that are committed to integrate ecological lifestyle into their programs will be organized. In this conference, participants will together develop detailed plan to implement eco-lifestyle activities in there organizations. Beside, they will listen to and discuss with experts on the field about the methodologies and skills needed to deliver trainings on the subject effectively.  This conference also aims to broaden the network and engage more universities as well as organizations into promoting ecological lifestyle in Vietnamese youth.
